European Cancer Prevention - 3rd MEETING

Education, screening and early detection in top five most common cancers

Prevention remains the best weapon for treating oncological diseases. Health promotion through an informative culture of prevention is the most effective treatment for preventing the onset of cancer, in particular with abolition of tobacco, implementation of educational campaigns focusing on proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, increasing in cancer screening, using of genetics and precision oncology to identify high-risk individuals and promotion of tertiary prevention to reduce the risk of relapse. Implementation of these strategies could lead to a 35% reduction in cancer mortality and a 70% increase in cancer survival by 2070.

This meeting will be based on intense collaboration across different disciplines in science and technology, promoting further new attitudes and novel interactions between broad ranges of players in cancer prevention research. The faculty involved in this meeting includes surgeons, genetists, lab investigators, pathologists, epidemiologists, oncologists, and radiologists.

There will be an overview on theoretical and practical skills to train and update professionals capable of managing issues related to cancer prevention in healthy individuals, or in patients with a cancer diagnosis. Furthermore, this meeting will address new needs related to continuity of care in surviving patients and/or complex patients.
