EU Cancer Mission Bus: Reaching Communities Across Europe
The EU Cancer Mission Bus embarked on a transformative journey during the summer of 2024, making 15 impactful stops across Lithuania, Poland, and Romania. This innovative initiative aimed to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
One notable stop was in the village of Lerești, Romania, where the bus provided residents with a unique opportunity to engage with healthcare experts and learn about life-saving cancer initiatives.
Key Highlights
Community Engagement: Over 16,800 visitors participated in the roadshow, supported by 66 organisations, including hospitals, patient groups, and local authorities.
Positive Impact: The campaign reached an additional 11 million people via social media, TV, and radio coverage.
Living Labs for Prevention: Programs like 4P-CAN empowered communities by involving citizens and policymakers in designing tailored cancer prevention strategies.
A Road to Hope
The Cancer Bus is a vital part of the broader EU Cancer Mission, which aims to:
