Latest Cancer Mapping Shows Key Trends Across Europe
The updated European Cancer Information System (ECIS) has refreshed its epidemiological data, revealing critical cancer trends across Europe. A significant increase in lung cancer cases among women has been observed, while a decline is noted among men. Managed by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and supported by data from over 125 cancer registries across 32 countries, ECIS provides valuable insights into cancer incidence and mortality.
Key Findings:
Lung Cancer: Cases among women are increasing, while incidence in men is declining.
Stomach Cancer: Both incidence and mortality rates are steadily decreasing.
Breast Cancer: It remains the most diagnosed cancer in women, but mortality rates are decreasing due to advancements in care.
ECIS plays a vital role in understanding these trends, enabling targeted policymaking, enhancing public awareness, and fostering research efforts. Supporting such initiatives is essential to improve cancer prevention and control across Europe.
