ECIS Highlights Increase in Lung Cancer Among Women in Europe

🌍 Latest Cancer Mapping Shows Key Trends Across Europe

The updated European Cancer Information System (ECIS) updated its epidemiological data, showing a significant increase in lung cancer cases among women, while a decrease is observed among men.! Managed by the JRC and powered by data from over 125 cancer registries across 32 countries, ECIS offers invaluable insights into cancer incidence and mortality trends across Europe. 📊

🔹 Key Findings:

  • 📈 Lung Cancer: Cases among women are rising, while incidence in men is declining.

  • 📉 Stomach Cancer: Both incidence and mortality rates are steadily decreasing.

  • 💗 Breast Cancer: Still the most diagnosed cancer in women, but mortality is on the decline thanks to advancements in care.

ECIS not only helps us understand these trends but also drives targeted policymaking, public awareness, and research. Let’s continue to support this critical work and improve cancer prevention and control across Europe.
