Within the framework of the EuCanScreen project and organized by the National Center for Public Health and Pharmacy of Hungary, the professional conference titled “Organized Cancer Screenings and Health Communication in Practice” will be held on June 3, 2025, in Budapest, Hungary.
This event puts a spotlight on one of the key factors determining the effectiveness of screening programs: the improvement of health literacy and the development of communication skills.
The basis of the conference is a newly developed educational material created under Task 6.7, which not only provides professional knowledge about the three organized cancer screening programs (breast, cervical, and colorectal), but also helps to enhance communication skills in a practice-oriented way—particularly in building better connections with patients.
Its aim is to support healthcare, social, and nonprofit professionals working directly with the public in communicating more effectively about the importance of screening programs.
The EUCANSCREEN project will be represented at the conference by: Mari Nygard (WP6 Leader), Marcis Leja (Scientific Leader), Bernd Kerschner (Task 6.7 Co-lead)
The general objective of EUCanScreen is to assure sustainable implementation of high-quality screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancers, as well as implementation of the recently recommended screening programs – for lung, prostate and gastric cancers. EUCanScreen will facilitate the reduction of cancer burden and achieving equity across the EU.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s EU4HEALTH Programme under the Grant Agreement no 101162959
