Last November and December, different stakeholders from Eeklo and Maasmechelen (Flanders) came together to discuss the causes and consequences of childhood overweight and obesity linked to their environment. By exploring different opinions, inputs and links, mapping them using a causal loop, a visualization of the variables contributing to this growing pandemic could be made and the first ideas of areas of intervention were explored. This is the start of a fruitful collaboration between different partners in the city to enhance the living environment of children living in vulnerable situations, giving them more opportunities to be physically active and/or eat healthier.
